Arsenal have reportedly made Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha their top transfer target this summer, according to a report in the Daily Star – but he is really what the club need?

Zaha has been heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur also said to be interested.

It now looks as though the Gunners will attempt to steal a march on their rivals for his signature by turning all their attentions to securing the 26-year-old.

There is no doubt that Zaha would add something to the Arsenal team. Pace and trickery in wide areas is something Unai Emery’s side lacked last season and they suffered for it, often looking predictable.

That creativity would be a huge asset for Arsenal, while also providing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette with even more chances in front of goal.

The fact that Zaha is keen for a move away from Palace just as Arsenal scour the market for a player of his profile would suggest he was destined to end up at the Emirates, playing for the team he supported as a child.

While all of that is very romantic, Arsenal have to make sure that they are making a good decision in signing Zaha as they do, after all, have ambitions of making it back into the top four of the Premier League next year.

Arsenal to go all out for Eagles star Zaha

Arsenal to go all out for Eagles star Zaha According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are going go all out in their pursuit for Crystal Palace’s star man Wilfried Zaha. Zaha has been Palace’s talisman for a few years now, his trickery combined with speed makes him one of the league’s most dangerous players to come up against. The 26-year-old was in good form last season as he registered 10 goals and five assists in his 34 league games for the Eagles. With four years left on his contract, Palace are under no pressure to sell Zaha, though the Ivorian has expressed his desires to play in the Champions League. “I have to experience the Champions League. I just need the opportunity, that’s it. And I’ll do the rest.

Unai Emery has made Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha his top target ahead of the summer transfer window Eagles boss Roy Hodgson, meanwhile, has said that he expects Zaha to be a Palace player for Arsenal face Brighton on Sunday as Emery’s side look to keep their slim top -four hopes alive.

To do that, they need to be signing top quality players who are going to make a telling impact, so it has to be mentioned that Zaha can be inconsistent and frustrating at times.

Although he finished last season strongly, there was a four-and-a-half-month spell in which he did not muster a single league goal. Arsenal can’t afford to be splashing what will be a considerable amount of cash on somebody who could just stop producing for lengthy periods of time.

There are already enough members of the squad who clearly have a lot of talent but don’t demonstrate it often enough, they do not need to add another to that list.

Zaha previously failed to make a mark at Manchester United despite being one of the most highly rated youngsters in the country at the time, and as a consequence, there are still questions over his ability to perform at the top level, but he has undoubtedly matured and progressed since then.

Having said all of that, everything seems to point towards now being the right time for the attacker to try again with one of England’s top teams, and Arsenal would be a good fit for him.

As long as he settles in quickly and continues to make improvements to his game, just as he has in recent years, there is no reason why Zaha wouldn’t be a success with the North London side.

Palace to demand £100m for Zaha.

The report claims that Palace do not want Zaha to exit Selhurst Park in the coming weeks, which is why they are demanding a record fee for the Ivorian international. Zaha hit a career-best 10 league goals last season for Palace as he enjoyed a stellar campaign for the club. He has scored 32 Premier League goals in 163 appearances for Palace since his move back to the club from Manchester United in 2013.
