Hammers target Dani Ceballos hoping for Real Madrid stay
Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has revealed he is hoping to remain at the Bernabeu next season following heavy links with a move to the Premier League. Both the Hammers and Tottenham Hotspur were thought to be keen on the versatile midfielder ahead of a possible summer move, however, the 22-year-old looks set to remain in Spain next season. The Spaniard featured in 32 games for Madrid last season, scoring three times, and was expected to move on in the summer following Zinedine Zidane’s return to the dugout.
Reported Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Dani Ceballos is reportedly set to meet with AC Milan to discuss a move from Real Madrid – but should Spurs step up their interest?
write that Ceballos is unhappy with Los Blancos and could be used as a potential makeweight in the deal to take Spurs playmaker Christian Eriksen.
The 22-year-old has been with the Spanish giants since 2017 and made 23 league appearances last season, scoring three goals.
He has often been compared to both Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, operating in the centre of midfield but always looking to probe the opposition’s defence by picking a killer pass.
West Ham target Ceballos to make decision after international duty
West Ham transfer target Dani Ceballos has revealed when he will be making a decision over his future. Ceballos has claimed that he will wait until he returns from international duty before deciding what is next for him in his career. The midfielder claims that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has made it clear to him what his plans are for him, but he will weigh up his options later this month. He is currently away at the under-21 European Championships, competing for Spain, and will sort out his future upon his return. Speaking to Onda Cero, via Football Espana, Ceballos said this: “Zidane has spoken to me, and he was very clear.
His ball retention skills and ability to open up defences by moving the ball from side to side often create opportunities for team-mates to find space, something that Spurs can lack at times.
Furthermore, the midfielder has a defensive mindset and is able to read play well, providing vital interceptions and winning the ball back when his team needs him to do so.
The fact that he is more of a number 8 than a 10 mean he would provide competition for the likes of Harry Winks, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Victor Wanyama, with Spurs’ midfield options being on the heavy side currently.
Overall, Ceballos would be a fantastic addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s young and hungry squad, but it remains to be seen at what price Madrid president Florentino Perez values him at.
The fact that he is under contract until 2023 and is likely to be on a significant wage may prove to be stumbling blocks, but moving Erisken in the other direction could prove vital to the negotiations.
Tottenham set to beat Liverpool and Arsenal in race to sign Dani Ceballos.
Tottenham are set to beat Liverpool and Arsenal in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to a report from Spanish outlet AS. The 22-year-old has been busy in recent weeks as he helped Spain win the European Under-21 Championships but now that the tournament is over, he can spend time to decide on his plans for the future. It looks like Zinedine Zidane has decided that Ceballos is surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu and as such, he is willing to let him leave in order to help balance the books after Madrid have already made significant outlays this summer for the likes of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, amongst others.
