Furthermore, the midfielder has a defensive mindset and is able to read play well, providing vital interceptions and winning the ball back when his team needs him to do so.

The fact that he is more of a number 8 than a 10 mean he would provide competition for the likes of Harry Winks, Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Victor Wanyama, with Spurs’ midfield options being on the heavy side currently.

Overall, Ceballos would be a fantastic addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s young and hungry squad, but it remains to be seen at what price Madrid president Florentino Perez values him at.

The fact that he is under contract until 2023 and is likely to be on a significant wage may prove to be stumbling blocks, but moving Erisken in the other direction could prove vital to the negotiations.

The 22-year-old has been busy in recent weeks as he helped Spain win the European Under-21 Championships but now that the tournament is over, he can spend time to decide on his plans for the future.
