SportPlayers who need to impress Daniel Farke in pre-season

Norwich City enjoyed one of the best seasons in their history last season, in terms of second-tier campaigns, as they won the Championship title in style.

Playing Daniel Farke’s visually pleasing passing style of football, Norwich secured 94 points and finished five clear of Sheffield United in second, and 11 clear of Leeds United in third.

The Canaries are now preparing for a season in the Premier League, after three years in the Championship, and have already made one addition to their squad.

Patrick Roberts has been signed on loan from Manchester City for the season, after spending a year at Girona in La Liga.

Players will be returning for pre-season training within the next two weeks and Roberts, among others, will be looking to impress in order to nail down their place in Norwich’s top-flight squad next season.

Here are some players, outside of the regulars from last season, who need to catch Farke’s eye in the next few months…

Vincent Thill "interested" in Norwich move

Metz midfielder Vincent Thill is “very strongly interested” in a potential switch to Norwich City this summer, according to journalist Joris Crolbois. The 19-year-old was linked with the Canaries last week, as Daniel Farke looks to improve his squad ahead of his side’s return to the Premier League. Thill spent the 2018/19 season on loan at Pau, scoring 10 goals and bagging three assists during his time there. He also has 23 caps for Luxembourg, making his debut in March 2016, at the age of just 16. Thill became his country’s youngest goalscorer of all time when he found the net two months later, in a 3-1 defeat to Nigeria.

For some players , however, pre - season is an important opportunity to stake a claim for a first-team spot or a long-term role within Rodgers’ squad. Roles can be earned and futures can be secured—so who needs to hit the ground running this pre - season ? Here are five players who need to impress .

After the first international break of the season, in September, Hanley only made two – substitute – appearances in the Championship. The Norwich captain appears to be Farke’s 4th choice at centre-back, so Hanley need to step up his game in pre-season and show he has what it takes.

Another centre-back who has fallen out of favour at Norwich. Franke has been sent out on loan twice in the last two seasons, but now has a chance to impress Farke in pre-season and have a show at playing Premier League football next term.

Husband started Norwich’s opener against Birmingham last season and was then swiftly frozen out of the first-team and sent on loan to Fleetwood. The left-back has failed to impress since joining Norwich, but could come back for pre-season in better shape following his year on loan.

Bushiri signs four-year deal with Norwich

He becomes the latest player to join Norwich’s under-23 squad this summer, following on from Rob Nizet, Daniel Adshead and Archie Mair – who have all penned contracts with the Canaries this summer.

Daniel Farke ’s Norwich have won nine of their last 12 games in all competitions, losing only once. They have also helped form a connection between the fans and Farke . The German’s first season at Farke seems to like knockout competition and Norwich will enjoy this opportunity to keep their

Steven Naismith is aiming to impress new Norwich City head coach Daniel Farke and has no plans to leave Carrow Road before the end of his contract. Naismith has worked under a number of managers in his career and hopes Farke will have a similar impact on him as Roberto Martinez did at Everton.

Marshall joined Norwich from Wolves last summer but never really got a look in after the first few games of the season. He was sent out on loan to Millwall, but Farke did admit he was happy to keep him in the squad. If he impresses in pre-season, he could be a good option to have next season.

Srbeny is currently Norwich’s only senior striker aside from Teemu Pukki. The German has only scored four goals since joining the club in January 2018, but could keep his place as a back-up option if he steps up his game in pre-season.

Heise joined Norwich in January, but failed to make a single appearance for the club in the second half of the season. He will want to show what he can do in pre-season so that he can fill in for Jamal Lewis if he is ever absent from the team.

Thompson impressed at the start of last season, playing in midfield and on the right, but was plagued with injuries throughout the year. If he can stay fit, he will be a useful asset for Daniel Farke next season.
