Southampton could face competition from Sevilla in the race to sign their reported long-term target Francois Kamano this summer, according to Calciomercato.

The Saints were claimed to have come ‘close’ to wrapping up a transfer for the Bordeaux forward in January, and earlier this week, he was once again touted with a possible switch to St Mary’s Stadium.

Kamano had a relatively productive season in France. From 37 appearances in Ligue 1, he was able to find the back of the net on 10 occasions, and he also chipped in with one goal from five of the six Europa League group stages matches that his side competed in.

Palace target Maupay in talks with Sevilla

Palace target Maupay in talks with Sevilla Crystal Palace have suffered a setback in their pursuit of Brentford striker Neal Maupay as the Frenchman’s agent has flown to Spain to discuss terms with Sevilla over a move this summer. Palace have been linked with a move for the striker in recent weeks as Roy Hodgson looks to strengthen his attacking options, while Aston Villa and Norwich City have also shown interest in the Frenchman. However the Premier League trio may have to act quickly in their attempts to sign the striker, as Get French Football News suggest via L’Equipe that the 22-year-old’s agent has flown to Spain to negotiate a deal with Sevilla.

The forward is currently away on international duty with Guinea at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. In his team’s opening fixture of the tournament, he scored a penalty, helping them to a 2-2 draw against Madagascar.

Southampton have already wrapped up their first signing of the summer transfer window, with Moussa Djenepo arriving from Standard Liege in a deal worth £14 million.

If they are to pursue a deal for Kamano, however, it seems they will need to fend off opposition from La Liga giants Sevilla.
