West Ham in three-way Kessie race West Ham United are involved in a three-way battle with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal as they bid to sign Franck Kessie from AC Milan, according to claims from The Guardian. Kessie made 34 appearances in Serie A last season and was rather productive at the heart of Gennaro Gattuso’s plans, scoring seven goals and contributing with three assists.

Arsenal have reportedly been offered Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie in a potential swap deal for Lucas Torreira, but would this represent a good deal for the Gunners?

According to Corriere dello Sport, as cited on Calcio Mercato, the San Siro outfit could offer the player in return in an attempt to sweeten the deal this summer.

It is claimed that Torreira will push for a move back to Italy, so Arsenal can consider getting a player in return as something of a silver lining.

Kessie is a player that was highly rated in Italy prior to his move to Milan, where things haven’t quite gone right for him so far.

The Hammers have been linked with a swoop to sign the Ivorian midfielder this summer as Manuel Pellegrini looks to strengthen his side ahead of his second season in charge at the club. West Ham have already signed Roberto, David Martin and Pablo Fornals, and they are now seemingly exploring other deals. One of these possible transfers could be Kessie, who may be sold by Milan this summer if a sizable offer comes in.

There are certainly worse players that Arsenal could get in return, but Kessie’s arrival would be a risk.

While not the out-and-out defensive-minded midfielder that the Gunners are craving, Kessie would be able to offer something different alongside the likes of Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.

His seven league goals also represent a good return and it is worth remembering that Arsenal also have to try and replace Aaron Ramsey this summer.

Losing Torreira would certainly be a bigger problem and Arsenal should do all they can to keep the South American midfielder, but getting Kessie in return would soften the blow somewhat.

Hammers target Kessie close to Premier League move.
Franck Kessie is said to be closing in on a Premier League move, with Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham all interested in the player. All three London sides have been heavily linked with a move to sign the midfielder this summer. Currently away representing his country at the African Cup of Nations, it is likely that his future will be resolved once Ivory Coast’s time at the tournament is up.
