McCarthy keen on Liverpool switch

McCarthy keen on Liverpool switch Alex McCarthy is keen on a move to Liverpool this summer after losing his place to Angus Gunn last season, with the Reds looking to replace the outgoing Simon Mignolet. McCarthy played 10 times in the league under Ralph Haseenhuttl after he replaced Mark Hughes as manager in December, before eventually losing his place to Gunn, who started the final 12 games of the season under the Austrian. According to the Evening Standard, McCarthy is reportedly keen on replacing Mignolet as Liverpool’s back-up goalkeeper to Alisson, and Saints themselves are looking to offload either the 31-year-old or Fraser Forster this summer.

According to the London Evening Standard, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Liverpool’s keeper Simon Mignolet.

The Belgian had a disastrous time last season having been left on the sidelines for the majority of the campaign after the signing of Brazil’s no.1 Alisson Becker.

The Belgian international, who only appeared twice last season, has 245 Premier League appearances under his belt from his spells with Liverpool and Sunderland.

A fee of around £8 million is what’s being discussed at the moment, this would be great for the Eagles as they would be getting an experienced keeper at the top level and a Belgian international too.

Liverpool and Palace in talks over £25m Clyne and Mignolet deal.
Crystal Palace have reportedly begun talks with Liverpool over a potential deal for Nathaniel Clyne and Simon Mignolet, according to Football Insider. The report claims that the Eagles, who had an £8m offer for Mignolet turned down recently, are willing to pay £25m for the pair, who are both out of favour under Jurgen Klopp. Both players have been tipped for a Merseyside exit this summer, however, the Reds are reportedly holding back on parting ways with second-choice keeper Mignolet. Klopp is thought to be a big admirer of the Belgian’s professionalism behind the scenes at Anfield and would only sell if a deal is right.
