After securing a deal to sign long-term target Che Adams from Birmingham City recently, Austin is set to fall further down the pecking order at St Mary’s.

Austin made the move to Southampton from Queens Park Rangers in 2016 in a deal reportedly worth £4 million.

The striker has been troubled by injuries throughout his time at the club and as a result, has never really been able to nail down a consistent run in the team, scoring just 16 league goals over the course of four years.

Out of favour Austin forced to train with Southampton's Under 23 side.
Out of favour Southampton striker Charlie Austin has reportedly been told to train with the Under-23 side, according to Sky Sports. Austin has been placed on the Saints’ transfer list since the start of the summer after Ralph Hasenhuttl and his staff concluded that the former QPR forward was no longer part of their plans for the upcoming season. The forward initially planned to see out the last year of his contract at St Mary’s, snubbing interest from West Brom, but after the latest revelations, it appears that he is unlikely to remain at the club.
