Arsenal and United reportedly enquire over Lemina deal

Arsenal and United reportedly enquire over Lemina deal Manchester United and Arsenal have both enquired over a possible deal for Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina, according to a report from The Daily Mail. The Gabon international recently admitted that he is open to leaving St Mary’s Stadium this summer, with Ralph Hasenhuttl taking the club in a different direction. Lemina was excluded from the squad that travelled to Austria on Monday for a pre-season training camp despite having returned for initial tests at Southampton’s Staplewood training campus in previous days.

Leicester City are reportedly among a host of clubs who are keen to sign Mario Lemina from Southampton this summer.

According to claims from The Daily Mail, the Foxes have already lodged an enquiry, with Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal also pursuing the Gabonese midfielder.

Serie A club Atalanta are also believed to be in the race to sign Lemina, who has experience of playing in Italy from during his time at Juventus.

The 25-year-old is ready to leave Southampton this summer as they look to raise funds to strengthen other areas of the squad, and it seems Leicester are prepared to capitalise on this opportunity.

Lemina has spent two seasons at St Mary’s Stadium but has struggled with a mixture of problems linked to injuries and inconsistency.

However, following the £40 million signing of Youri Tielemans, it seems Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers could offer the ex-Marseille star a route away from Southampton if the price is right.

Mario Lemina and Charlie Austin left out of pre-season training camp.
Southampton duo Mario Lemina and Charlie Austin have both been left out of the squad who travelled to Austria for the team’s pre-season training camp, according to reports by the DailyEcho. Ralf Hasenhutl has deemed that neither Lemina nor Austin will play a part next season, with Lemina having openly disclosed his desire to leave after reported interest from Manchester United. Austin, on the other hand, was more than prepared to see out the final year of his contract, but the combination of poor form and injuries contributed to a disappointing season and Hasenhutl has now rendered the Englishman surplus to requirements.
