The Mets have set their asking price for Noah Syndergaard.

New York wants “multiple top prospects” in exchange for the 26-year-old starter, according to a report from SNY, which cites unidentified league sources.

Syndergaard has regressed this season as he holds a 6-4 record with a 4.68 ERA in 17 starts. He was an All-Star as a 23-year-old in 2016 and holds a 3.23 ERA over 104 career MLB appearances.

“When I get on the mound, it’s pretty much me against me,’’ Syndergaard told reporters last week, via the New York Post. “My biggest crutch is being able to repeat my delivery. I can’t stay consistent.”

Mets mistakenly announce two living 1969 players as dead

Mets mistakenly announce two living 1969 players as dead The Mets included Jim Gosger and Jesse Hudson in a tribute video to remember the players that have died. But the two are still living.

10:37pm: The Mets have recently discussed Syndergaard with no fewer than six teams, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. For the Friars, adding Syndergaard now would significantly enhance the immediate outlook, though with a yawning gulf in the division that’d be a dubious strategy.

Impression is that trading for Noah Syndergaard would require a top 30 prospect and a couple of other solid pieces, one rival exec said earlier today. Rival evaluators say they believe the Mets are fully intent on dealing Noah Syndergaard before the trade deadline. "It's beyond listening," said one.

SNY’s report adds:

“Rival executives say that they are skeptical Syndergaard can bring that return, given his middling performance this season. If a team steps up, Brodie Van Wagenen will consider the offer. But he will also have to get creative about saving next year's team, which will likely be without Zack Wheeler and Jason Vargas.”

The Mets aren’t “soliciting offers” for Syndergaard but “multiple teams have contacted them to express interest,” according to an earlier report from MLB.com.

The Padres have inquired about Syndergaard while the Brewers are “monitoring” his availability, according to MLB.com. “Some within the Astros organization are intrigued” by him, as well, that report says.

The Mets entered the All-Star break with a 40-50 record and have lost 10 of their last 13. They’re seven games behind the Phillies for the second wild-card spot and trail the Braves by 13 1/2 games in the National League East.

MLB trade rumors: Zack Wheeler’s value ‘more or less’ destroyed after being placed on IL.
New York placed the 29-year-old right-hander on the injured list with shoulder fatigue, according to multiple reports. Breaking: Zack Wheeler is being placed on the injured list with right shoulder fatigue, a source says. The IL move is retroactive to Friday, so the soonest he can return is July 23. That leaves Wheeler with two starts max before the trade deadline.— Tim Healey (@timbhealey) July 15, 2019 The Mets had reportedly been hoping to deal Wheeler before the July 31 deadline and he’s expected to “be back pitching” by then, according to SNY.
