Arsenal to make £22m Tierney offer - but should the Gunners now meet Celtic's demands?

Arsenal to make £22m Tierney offer - but should the Gunners now meet Celtic's demands? Arsenal will reportedly offer Celtic £22 million for star defender Kieran Tierney – but should the Gunners meet the Hoops’ £25 million valuation? The Metro report that Arsenal were preparing an improved £19 million bid for the left-back, however, they will now increase that to £22 million with Serie A side Napoli showing a strong interest. Celtic have the power to pull the plug on a potential deal for Arsenal’s main transfer target, so should the Gunners just offer the full £25 million? Unai Emery has £45 million available to him this summer, and with Tierney his main transfer target, the club would be silly to risk losing out on the player for the sake of £3 million.

The Gunners were thought to be close to sealing a deal for the French defender but there may be a final twist.

Tottenham are trying to hijack Arsenal ’ s deal to sign the St Etienne centre-back William Saliba . The 18-year-old has agreed a five-year deal with the Gunners and the two clubs were only minor details away from Spurs have offered the same amount as Arsenal – € 30 m – but with better add-ons.

Arsenal have reportedly matched Tottenham’s €30 million offer for Saint-Etienne defender William Saliba – but should the Gunners look elsewhere?

According to French outlet RMC Sport, cited by Sports Witness, Arsenal have matched their local rivals’ bid for the youngster, with the Ligue 1 side now preparing to take a step back to decide their next move.

A €30 million move for the 18-year-old would place a serious dent into Unai Emery’s £45 million transfer budget, and with the Gunners willing to loan the player back to Saint-Etienne, a proposed move for the Frenchman falling through may not be the worst thing to happen.

Saliba is regarded as a future star, however, by not signing the teenager, it would then allow Emery to bring in immediate first-team additions, rather than players for the future.

The Gunners are in desperate need of reinforcements all across the backline, with multiple additions expected at the Emirates ahead of the new season.

It appears as if Arsenal remain desperate to secure Saliba’s services ahead of the new season, however, some Gunners fans may not be too troubled if a deal falls through.

Arsenal agree Saliba deal.
Arsenal have reached an agreement in principle with Saint-Etienne to sign defender William Saliba, Sky Sports News understands. The deal will see Saliba return to the Ligue 1 side on loan next season.
