Arsenal boss Unai Emery already has Hector Bellerin and Ainsley Maitland-Niles as right-back options, however, a move for Alves could be one that the Gunners feel they can’t turn down.

Despite turning 36 back in May, Alves helped his country to Copa America glory this summer and proved to everyone he still has what it takes to compete at the top level.

The right-back has been a consistent performer throughout his 18-year professional career, so the Gunners will know exactly what they are getting with the veteran.

Alves is capable of playing in a back four or five and possesses exciting qualities going forward.

A deal would also be a smart one in a commercial aspect, with the defender known all around the world during his stints with Barcelona, Juventus and PSG.

However, if the Gunners are to firm up their interest, they may well have to do so fairly quickly, with the right-back already in discussions with another European giant.
