Can Jamie Vardy break his own goal record? Penalty against Watford puts striker just five away from scoring in 12 consecutive Premier League games… and he could draw level with his previous best against Liverpool! With seven goals in his last seven games, Vardy is looking to surpass his own record of goals in consecutive matches this campaign and must score in five more games to make history again. It was during the Foxes' run to the title in 2015-16 that Vardy broke Ruud van Nistelrooy's record of goals in consecutive league games when he scored in 11 matches in a row.

Norwich took a surprise lead through Teemu Pukki but Leicester equalised via Tim Krul own goal in 1 - 1 draw. Leicester City’s long winning streak came to a surprise end at the King Power Stadium as Teemu Pukki grabbed his 16th goal for club and country.

Pukki sparked a feisty game by shooting The Canaries ahead after 26 minutes before Leicester salvaged a point by goalkeeper Tim Krul palming a Jamie Vardy header into his own net.

Earlier, angry Norwich players had surrounded Kelechi Iheanacho after he failed to return a throw and then rolled around needlessly after being tripped and the Foxes striker was replaced before half-time by Brendan Rodgers.

Leicester (United Kingdom) (AFP). Norwich ended Leicester ' s nine-game winning run to claim an unexpected 1 - 1 draw at the King Power that meant Leicester paid a heavy price for a poor start as Teemu Pukki put the Canaries in front before a Tim Krul own goal brought Brendan Rodgers' s men

Second top versus second bottom looked a mismatch on paper with Leicester never seeming to drop points and Norwich having won just once away this season.

Brendan Rodgers predictably named an unchanged Foxes line-up and there were early warning signs for the visitors with Jamie Vardy easily turning past Christoph Zimmmerman before over-hitting a cross, and Kelechi Iheanacho giving Canaries ‘keeper Tim Krul an early tester.

A second attempt, by Youri Tielemans was tricker, Krul awkwardly pushing the ball onto the post before gratefully clutching the rebound.

Norwich rarely saw the ball in those opening stages but once they acclimatised it became clear they hadn’t turned up to surrender.

Alex Tettey, who scored a rare Norwich goal against Sheffield United last week, launched another powerful strike after 12 minutes that was bravely blocked by Jonny Evans. Teemu Pukki was inches away from converting at the far post from another breakaway raid.

You could sense the jitters among the home support and those nerves were justified as Norwich went ahead after 26 minutes.

Emiliano Buendia found space in the middle of the park and produced a fabulous pass that split Leicester defenders Ben Chilwell and Caglar Soyuncu for Pukki to run onto.

Soyuncu manfully tried to chase the Finnish striker down but Pukki kept his composure admirably to slot a precise finish just inside Kasper Schmeichel’s right-hand post.

The Buendia-Pukki partnership was lethal in the Championship last season and while it’s taken time to develop at the top level, Pukki has continued to score goals – this was his third in four games.

Ndidi's crucial role at Leicester

Ndidi's crucial role at Leicester Why Wilfred Ndidi is a key player for Leicester's pressing game under Brendan Rodgers. Not everything went Leicester's way in their 1-1 draw at home to Norwich on Saturday, a result that ended a sequence of nine consecutive victories for Brendan Rodgers' side. But a point is no reason to panic. Not when Ndidi was providing yet another reminder that Leicester boast one of the best midfielders in the Premier League within their ranks.

Goal ! Leicester 1 - 1 Norwich (Vardy, 38). Vardy has scored nine in a row, and his header from James Maddison’ s cross goes in via a deflection. Liverpool ' s 2-0 victory against Watford increased their lead to 10 points at the top of the Premier League table after second-placed Leicester Leicester fought back from a goal down to salvage a point in a 1 - 1 draw against Norwich , with a Tim Krul own goal cancelling out Teemu Pukki' s opener

The game exploded into life after that. Iheanacho failed to return the ball to Norwich after a throw and rolled around like he’d been shot after a trip from Zimmerman outside the penalty area.

Incensed Norwich players surrounded the striker and Todd Cantwell grabbed his face as he lay on the ground. He was booked but Iheanacho’s play-acting was outrageous in addition to a lack of sportsmanship at the throw – awarded after Norwich had kicked the ball out for treatment.

Rodgers was probably wise to replace the Nigerian for Demarai Gray after 39 minutes. By then, Leicester were level with Vardy flicking James Maddison’s corner at the near post.

Replays suggested the effort was not on target until Krul palmed it in so it was awarded to the goalkeeper leaving Vardy to wait for his nine-in-a-row goal.

Rodgers made his second substitution at the interval, sending on Harvey Barnes for Dennis Praet to try and regain Leicester’s normal fluency.

Home fans cranked up the volume as their team looked for the winner. Vardy found space inside the Canaries penalty area before Max Aarons flung himself in the way of the final shot.

But Norwich, inspired by Cantwell, were also dangerous on the counter.

When he drew a foul from Wilfried Ndidi just outside the Leicester box, Buendia should have done better with the set-piece than firing over.

Leicester went back to pressing. Vardy had a shot on the turn tipped away Krul. There was a VAR penalty check for a kick against Chilwell but nothing given. Maddison had a goalbound shot deflected for a corner.

At the other end, Buendia’s lofted pass found Pukki free on goal until Soyuncu raced back to make a fantastic covering block.
