De Vries, who was after it, missed the times of the two Germans and placed himself in third place, which became fourth after Mitch Evans' attempt but became P3 again after the Wehrlein penalty.

championship leader Stoffel Vandoorne was second fastest in the first group, but only starts from eleventh.
