The Blues, employers of German soccer player Timo Werner from July, turned their away game at Aston Villa and defeated the promoted team 2-1 (0-1).
The former Dortmund substitute Christian Pulisic (60th minute) and the Frenchman Olivier Giroud (62nd) met in Birmingham for the guests. Aston Villa, who remains on the penultimate place in the table after the bankruptcy, initially took the lead through Kortney Hause (43rd).
