As "absolute dream player", the MSV Duisburg central defender Dominic Volkmer has signed a contract. The 24-year-old was most recently captain of relegated Carl Zeiss Jena.
"His distinctive mentality, his duel and headball strength distinguish him", describes zebra trainer Torsten Lieberknecht the newcomer from Jena.
The 24-year-old comes to the zebras with the experience from 98 third division games and two second division games. Before his time in Jena, Volkmer worked for Jahn Regensburg, Werder Bremen II and VfB Oldenburg. He receives a two-year contract.
For sports director Ivo Grlic, the left foot has already "demonstrated that it is ready to take responsibility". He is particularly pleased about the new signing because the player had "offers from the second division and really strong third division competition".
