Linfield announced the signing of versatile striker Christy Manzinga on Saturday.

Manzinga has joined the Blues on a two-year contract, subject to international clearance.

The French National has played for clubs in France and Belgium, and spent last season with Scottish Premiership club Motherwell.

The 25-year-old is a former DR Congo Under 20s international who spent time with Lorient and Angers in France.

In Belgium he featured for clubs including Dessel Sport and La Louviere, and spent last season in Scotland.

"I am in regular contact with Stephen Robinson, the Motherwell manager and he speaks very highly of Christy as a player and an individual.

"Christy had other options ahead of the upcoming season, so it’s great that he has chosen to sign for us."

And it has been confirmed that Manzinga will wear the famous number 9 jersey at Windsor Park.

"I know our supporters will make Christy welcome when they get a chance to see him in action, hopefully in the not too distant future.

"We are hopeful that the necessary international clearance will come through in time for Christy to make the squad for next week’s Champions League game against the champions of San Marino.”
