Kenny Miller makes 'ready-made' Alfredo Morelos Rangers replacement claim as Ibrox hero warns of sale risk
The former Rangers frontman knows how difficult it can be for players coming into the club and believes they'll need to hit the ground running. But the former Ibrox star insists his old club must have a ready-made replacement ready to go otherwise they wouldn't even consider selling him so close to the game.
Before that slightly abrupt end the Rangers boss had plenty of praise for his team, despite admitting they weren't always at their best.
Gerrard explained: "In an ideal world we want to look great in our style all the time, but that's not real. Over the course of 38 games there are going to be passages of play where the opposition put you under pressure and try to take you out of your comfort zone.
"You've got to stay tough, you've got to stay together, you've got to roll your sleeves up and put your body on the line.
"At times we did and I thought Leon (Balogun) epitomised that by going into the post.
"But you've got to givesome credit as well, they never lay down, they always thought they would get back into the game.
"They pushed us all the way, but this is a big three points and we're up and running now.

"I think players will be getting close to full fitness but you only get full fitness with real games, repeating games and repeating training.
"So I think individually we can all still get better and more tuned-in.
"As I said prior to this game we want to try and add some new faces to make us better and more competitive over 38 games."
Balogun was thrown straight in for his debut and took a sore one when he collided with the post while defending an Aberdeen set piece.
Gerrard was asked for his opinion on his new signing from Brighton and was effusive in his praise: "Outstanding.
"He's been in the door six days, this is probably one of the toughest away games - on your debut.
"You're only getting used to knowing the players, but from what we've seen prior we had trust in him and he went out and performed.
"He deserves all the plaudits that come his way, I thought he was outstanding.

The match was played without fans - aside from two enterprising Dons who had hired a cherry picker - and the Ibrox boss admits it's not the same with no backing from the stands.
Gerrard said: "I don't think I'll ever be able to stand here and say I enjoyed it.
"I'll enjoy the win of course, my team have just put in a fantastic performance. But from (when I was) a very young boy it was all about the fans for me - going to games, being around the crowds, competing as a player.
"Unfortunately we didn't have the away end with us today but I know they'll be with us back home or wherever they are watching the game.
"But for me fans have to be back as soon as possible when it's safe."
