Dejan Lovren set to join Zenit St Petersburg in £10.9m deal
Dejan Lovren is on the verge of making an exit from Liverpool as the Premier League champions have agreed to sell him to Zenit St Petersburg for a fee of around £10.9m. As first reported by Paul Joyce of The Times, Liverpool and Zenit have been in talks for a few weeks about a deal and the terms of the deal are close to being finalised. The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Liverpool this season and has made just 15 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal; a header against Napoli in the Champions League group clash at Anfield.
Mandi made 30 appearances for Real Betis during 2019/20 and is an established international with Algeria. It is believed the La Liga could side sanction any sale as the club look to raise funds to allow new boss Manuel Pellegrini money to bring in his own targets.
A deal worth around £9million wouldn’t break the bank of a seemingly frugal Liverpool spending plan this summer, especially as they received almost £12 million in the sale of Lovren.
The departure of Lovren has left the Premier League champions with three established centre-backs and both Joe Gomez and Joel Matip suffering from a more than a few injuries in the recent past, there can be no doubt additional cover is required.
