West Ham have begun talks with La Liga giants Barcelona over a potential summer move for striker Martin Braithwaite, according to a report in Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo.

Barca, who were given dispensation by the La Liga authorities to bring in an emergency signing in February due to injuries to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele, opted to take Braithwaite to the Camp Nou from relegation battlers Leganes.

West Ham put Albian Ajeti up for sale

West Ham put Albian Ajeti up for sale Celtic have been handed a potential transfer boost with the news that West Ham have put Albian Ajeti up for sale, as per a report from Darren Lewis of The Mirror. Celtic have held preliminary talks with West Ham about the availability of Ajeti as they’re interested in signing him this summer and it looks like the Hammers are willing to let him leave. Having secured his side’s place in the Premier League after joining the club mid-season, David Moyes is ready to complete somewhat of an overhaul of his squad and is looking to cash in on a few players brought in by Manuel Pellegrini.

Now, after only six months with the Catalan club and one goal in 11 appearances, it appears that they could be ready to let their man leave.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Everton are also interested in the Danish forward, but it is the Hammers who lead the way on their rivals in the race for his signature.

If he did move to West Ham, it would not be the Danish international’s first taste of English football as he spent two seasons in the Championship with Middlesbrough from 2017, scoring eight goals in his time in the North East.

The report also claims that West Ham have already made an offer for the 29-year-old, a reported bid of €20m (£18m), who still has almost four years remaining on his current deal at Barca.

Hammers boss David Moyes is clearly looking to add more goals to his squad at the London Stadium. It hasn’t worked out as many would have hoped for last summers signing Sebastian Haller, and despite being this season’s top goalscorer, Michail Antonio has had his injury troubles of late.

Although both Jarrod Bowen and Andriy Yarmalenko finished the season strongly, neither are out and out strikers like Braithwaite and it looks like Moyes feels that the Dane could provide the answer to West Ham’s striking problems.
