Leigh Griffiths is getting closer to the form he showed when he was Scotland's first-choice striker, says Celtic captain Scott Brown . We all know it's a wand. We just want him back to his best for Celtic and for Scotland because we know how vital he is for us. "I played in that game against England.

Scott Brown saluted superkids Jeremie Frimpong and David Turnbull as Celtic clicked back into top gear.

Leigh Griffiths scored a hat-trick as Celtic extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to 16 points after easing aside St Mirren. There was icing on the cake for Celtic and Scotland as Griffiths lashed home from the edge of the box to seal a fine hat-trick - taking his tally for the season

To Griffith this felt like a massive betrayal and he wanted to punish them both as much as possible. Being the type of person he is, he came up with the idea that Guts isn't someone to be intimidated by physical pain but sure as shit is emotionally vulnerable concerning Casca.

Brown dished out huge plaudits to both of his young colleagues, Asked how far Frimpong can go in the game, he laughed: “Really far up that wing and really quick because I can’t catch him!

“He’s fantastic, he’s got a great attitude and is always willing to learn. He is in meetings with the gaffer and the backroom staff as well because he wants to always get better,

“His energy and ability is second to none, he is one of the quickest I’ve seen and he’s got composure with the ball as well.”

On Turnbull, Brown continued: “He’s calm, he’s composed on the ball and he sees a forward pass too. He’s also got great awareness, so for us it’s great to have another Scottish boy in the tean.

“He knows what it’s all about also, winning games for Celtic and how big a club this is.”

“It’s just frustrating he’s got injured, especially when he’s just been getting into the groove. We’re fortunate we’ve got great players in attack.

“It’s about being in the right spot at the right time and he’s got that. He [Ajeti] has got that awareness and we’ve seen it in training.

“It’s hard for new people to come in here and hit the ground running, but he really has, he’s scoring goals and his link up play was also exceptional.

It did not stop the champions posting an impressive show and Brown says it was enjoyable given some of the criticism which has followed some of the winning performances of recent weeks.

He said: “I think everything just clicked, it has been coming for the last couple of weeks.

“Everyone’s on us for not scoring enough goals, but it’s all about winning games for us and maintaining that and we set a marker here to make sure we try to keep to those levels.

“It’s not going to be nice and easy every game. Everybody wants to beat us.

"That’s what happens when we’re champions as well. Everyone’s here to try and take our scalp.
