  Michael Chandler signs with UFC; set as UFC 254 lightweight title alternate Three-time Bellator champion Michael Chandler has officially signed with the UFC and will potentially fight for the 155 lbs title in his first promotional outing. Confirmed by UFC president Dana White on ESPN’s SportsCenter, Chandler has joined MMA’s premier promotion and will now act as a back-up for UFC 254’s lightweight title fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and interim champion Justin Gaethje. Michael Chandler has officially signed with the UFC and will potentially fight for the 155 lbs title in his first promotional outing.

UFC 253 promised two competitive title fights and with it brought two impressive commanding performances.

In the headline bout, Israel Adesanya left Paulo Costa in the dust as ‘The Last Stylebender’ had too much for the Brazilian on the feet as the now 20-0 middleweight champion put on a flawless showing.

With brutal leg kicks before offering up startlingly quick kicks up top, Adesanya dominated Costa from the get-go before a left hook put ‘The Eraser’ to the mat with the following ground and pound finishing the job.

In Saturday night’s other championship bout, underdog Jan Blachowicz defeated Dominick Reyes via TKO after an early punishing body kick set the tempo.

With Blachowicz that bit sharper in the early running, the resurgent Polish fighter would land what is becoming a trademark left hook counter to put Reyes on uneasy legs and moments later become the new 205 lbs champion.

Arnold Allen vs. Jeremy Stephens slated for November clash .
Top 10 featherweight contenders Arnold Allen and Jeremy Stephens have reportedly agreed to square off against one another. As first reported by MMAJunkie, Allen, currently ranked #8, and Stephens, #9, will be added to UFC Fight Night 182 on November 7th with the event expected to take place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Allen (16-1) is currently on a nine-fight winning streak including all seven of his UFC bouts. Joining the promotion in 2015, Allen has most notably defeated former Strikeforce champion Gilbert Melendez and Makwan Amirkhani during his time under the UFC banner and most recently competed in January where he picked up a unanimous decision win over Nik Lentz.
