Everything Celtic's European opponents have said since Neil Lennon took charge The Hoops take on AC Milan on Thursday night and here's everything every European opponent has had to say about Celtic since Lennon took the reins. It was days after a two-legged defeat to Valencia so he had to wait until the following season to get a chance to manage the club on the big stage again.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila believes new signing Jozo Simunovic could turn out to be as good as Virgil van Dijk. Dutch defender Van Dijk, 24, moved to Southampton during the transfer window with the Scottish champions raking in around £11.5million, according to reports.

Milan have reportedly put Jozo Simunovic on their shortlist as they hunt for centre-back options.

The Croat has been a free agent since leaving Celtic at the end of last season, with injury worries seeing moves to Rijeka and Trabzonspor collapse.

Simunovic could soon be back at Celtic Park though if a German report is to be believed.

It's no secret that Europa League foes Milan were looking for a centre-back all summer, with Kris Ajer a target for the Serie A side.

The transfer window closed without the Rossoneri securing a player to bolster Stefano Pioli's defence and the Hamburger Morgenpost believes they're in talks with former Arsenal man Sokratis Papastathopoulos.

Elyounoussi's Milan cameo has given Lennon attacking headache

Elyounoussi's Milan cameo has given Lennon attacking headache Celtic suffered a second straight defeat in the week, as they went down 3-1 to AC Milan in their Europa League opener on Thursday. However, one positive to come out of the performance at Celtic Park was the second-half display of Moi Elyounoussi, who, we feel, has now given Lennon a real attacking headache ahead of Sunday’s clash with Aberdeen. The Norwegian was part of a double change at the break alongside Ryan Christie, initially partnering Albian Ajeti in attack. Elyounoussi had really struggled for form in the past few weeks. He was the club’s worst performer in the 2-0 win over St Johnstone prior to the international break, with a WhoScored rating of 6.17.

Jozo Simunovic has arrived in Italy to complete a £3.75million move from Celtic to Torino. The 22-year-old Parkhead defender is undergoing medical tests at Celtic confirmed the arrival of £1million Costa Rica right back Cristian Gamboa on a three-year deal from West Bromwich Albion on Monday.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila believes new £3million signing Jozo Simunovic can become the next Virgil van Dijk – playing a starring role for the champions before being sold on at a massive profit. The Croatian central defender, whose fee represents a huge investment by modern Scottish standards

Simunovic is said to be an alternative as Milan can only sign free agents outside of a transfer window.

And if they did make a move the defender would be set to renew acquaintances with his former side.

The Italians are in the same Europa League group and visit Celtic Park on Thursday.

There's a return at San Siro in December and while Simunovic wouldn't be able to play as the squad registration deadline has passed he'd be sure to catch up with his former team-mates.

Former Palace ace on the verge of re-joining Eagles .
Crystal Palace are on the verge of signing former starlet Nathaniel Clyne on a short-term deal, according to Matt Woosnam of The Athletic. According to the report, the deal is set to run until the end of January. The 29-year-old was released at the end of the 2019-20 season by Liverpool, having missed the whole of last season in rehabilitation after cruciate knee ligament damage. Following his release, Clyne had been training on his own before being offered a trial period with his former club, going on to impress Eagles manager Roy Hodgson during this period. Even before his release, the defender had been an outcast over his last few months with Liverpool.
