No quickness to act: Classic false start for Erras
The Bremen start into the new season can be described as successful after the last shaky season. In addition, the changed personal and economic situation triggered a new boost in development in the team. Ferrari hasn't had such a good result for a long time: Charles Leclerc drove a strong one in Portimao () Race and was rewarded with fourth place. "We have to go on like this," said Monegasse happily and praised his Ferrari as "the best Ferrari of the entire season". The upward trend at Scuderia seems to continue.
Already in qualifying, Leclerc indicated the potential of the SF1000 with fourth place, but while he mostly fell behind on Sunday, he even sniffed at the great success in Portugal. "At some point I even had the podium in my head," he admits - in the end, however, 30 seconds behind Max Verstappen, that was utopia. "He was a little too fast," Leclerc admitted.
Curious: Borowka posts his professional contracts

"I don't think the podium was within reach today", team boss Mattia Binotto also rules out a top 3 place. However, he would be interested in how it would have looked if Ferrari had opted for soft and medium tires instead of medium and hard. "The medium lasted much longer and we didn't expect that at the beginning of the race," said Binotto.
Perhaps Leclerc would not have lost any positions with soft tires at the beginning and had another race, but the Ferrari driver can live with his result today. "I was patient, and it paid off in the end. I was able to get the tires back up to temperature and move forward again."
Binotto: "Even Sebastian ..."
Binotto is happy that the car behaved well today. "Even Sebastian was able to make up a few positions from further back and had a decent rhythm once he had clear ground," he says and is curious to see whether the good impressions in Imola can be confirmed next weekend.

Portimao was definitely a good step for Leclerc: "I can confirm that it was the best Ferrari of the entire season," he says happily. "I'm glad how it went. I had a little more confidence. That's good because the last few races were difficult."
After always falling behind on Sunday, he was waiting for answers in Portimao. "And we got it," he says. "I am very happy and proud of the work that the team is doing."
Leclerc: "So we have to continue"
Binotto also emphasizes that today was very important for Ferrari. Because the developments brought along are also a clue for the coming year. "The way is right," says Binotto. "We know in which direction we have to go and are giving full throttle with a view to the coming year."
Leclerc knows that most fans would want Ferrari to just bring a brand new car that can be won again. "But that won't happen," he waves off. "We decided to take it step by step - and it works. We have to continue like this."
And at some point Ferrari could become a real challenger again. Mercedes would like that too: "To see Ferrari in the top positions again is good," says Motorsport Director Toto Wolff. "We need a strong Ferrari, they are a very powerful brand in Formula 1."
The Austrian has a lot of praise for Leclerc in particular: "As Sebastian has already said, Charles is clearly getting more out of the car than there is in it. It drives very well!"
