Cardiff City manager Neil Harris told BBC Sport Wales: "The second half was like a basketball game - end to end - and Charlton can play like that. "It's not how I want us to play - I want us to have more control and in the first half I thought we had huge control of the football, with some excellent passages

A dominant Cardiff City inflicted a 4-0 trouncing on Luton Town to slightly alleviate the pressure which had mounted on manager Neil Harris.

Two goals from Sean Morrison and full debutant Mark Harris within the first 10 minutes handed the Bluebirds firm control of the tie, before Kieffer Moore put the game to bed with a terrific headed goal after the break.

Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo then added the gloss in the dying minutes with a piledriver of a finish to round off a perfect outing for the Welsh club.

The metaphorical sky above Cardiff City Stadium had blackened in recent weeks, owing to a string of underwhelming performances and results which led to Neil Harris admitting he was probably playing for his job heading into the match.

The manager had strong words for his team following the miserable defeat at Coventry City in midweek and hinted at changes heading into this crucial match.

There were three changes made and the most striking one of all was 21-year-old Mark Harris getting the nod for his full league debut, starting up front alongside Moore.

With Harry Wilson and Ojo occupying the flanks, it looked an attacking setup, but they needed to go out there and produce. Thankfully, that's exactly what they did.

With just five minutes on the clock, Wilson floated a corner to the back post and captain Morrison ghosted in unmarked to tap home the first of the match.

A collective sigh of relief was breathed in the Bluebirds dugout.

And just minutes later, that Mark Harris gamble paid dividends.

Ojo broke down the left-hand side, took on his defender and sent in a terrific cross for the Wales under-21 international, who controlled the ball expertly on the half volley before calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to hand the hosts a two-goal cushion.

Cardiff enjoyed the lion's share of possession thereafter before a massive chance presented itself to Harris just after the half-hour mark.

Hatters goalkeeper Simon Sluga slipped as the ball was laid back to him and the City striker capitalised. He retrieved the ball and, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, decided against sliding in the open Moore at the back post to take on the shot, clearly brimming with confidence.

But his effort was denied by Sluga, who atoned for his misfortune, from point-blank range, leaving Moore with his head in his hands at the back post.

Moore, though, would get another chance before the break, when a looping ball over the defence fell kindly for him. The striker chested the ball towards goal before unleashing a venomous, driving shot from a tight angle, but Sluga was equal to it and made yet another smart save.

It was more of the same after the break, really, as Cardiff really turned up the heat and produced a number of big chances.

Joe Ralls would have been disappointed for not converting his opportunity, when he headed narrowly wide from a long throw-in, despite being unmarked just 10 yards out.

But the pressure soon told as Luton really struggled to deal with the Bluebirds' aerial attack.

It was another pinpoint ball from Harry Wilson from the corner which landed sweetly on Moore's head, just yards from goal, to allow the Welshman to bury his chance from close range and hand City an unassailable lead.

Cardiff looked so comfortable and managed the game expertly into the dying minutes, when another set piece undid the visitors.

Marlon Pack's corner was cleared and found its way to Ojo, who drove into the box and hammered home emphatically with a driven shot into the far corner. Game over.

It was, quite frankly, a dominant display, something we have scarcely seen from this Cardiff City side so far this term. Their attack looked threatening and defence resolute and uncompromising.

It is the sort of performance we thought would be the norm rather than the anomaly and that will have to be the case moving forward, for sure.

While the Bluebirds are not in the clear just yet, the darkened clouds above have a lighter hue than they did heading into the match.
