Hamilton defender Aaron Martin believes the punishments handed to St Mirren and Kilmarnock act as a warning for society to obey Covid rules.

St Mirren and Kilmarnock were hammered by the SPFL for admitting a number of breaches, and Accies were a awarded 3-0 from their postponed clash with The Buddies.

The Accies man reckons it shows how important it is to obey coronavirus restrictions.

When asked if the sanctions handed to Kilmarnock and St Mirren act as a warning to clubs, he said: "I don't think it's even just in football, in every walk of life at the moment it's important to stick to rule guidelines and all the rules for peoples safety.

St Mirren make two appointments in a bid to stem the Covid -19 infections that have prompted two postponements. Games against Motherwell and Hamilton were called off after positive tests and the SPFL is investigating the circumstances behind the outbreaks.

"I've really enjoyed the first couple of league games. It's been good for me to see what the level is like and how different it is to play up here.

"I've only really played in England and to see the level and style of play has been massively enjoyable.

"The tempo is actually quicker [than England] and teams really try and play up here as well.

"It's just a slightly different style of football up here to what it is in England, which is good for me."
