Celtic fans react to 'terrifying stat' regarding Diego Laxalt

Celtic fans react to 'terrifying stat' regarding Diego Laxalt Celtic dropped more Scottish Premiership points on Monday evening following a 1-1 draw with Hibernian, leaving them 21 points behind rivals Rangers. The Hoops were forced to make six changes to the side from the defeat at Rangers, with 13 first-team stars, Neil Lennon and John Kennedy self-isolating following Christopher Jullien’s positive test result. One man who was available to feature at a wet Parkhead was on-loan left-back Diego Laxalt. The Uruguayan played the entirety of the draw at Celtic Park and made more tackles than any other Hoops player.

The transfer merry-go-round burst into lift yesterday at Celtic Park after a quiet window so far.

The focus has been on the form on the park and the ill-fated trip to Dubai in 2021 so far, however the news of Jeremie Frimpong's exit has put the Hoops on right-back red alert.

With uncertainty over Hatem Elhamed's future, that leaves only Anthony Ralston on the right side of the defence if Frimpong's move to Bayern Leverkusen goes through.

So who could be coming into Celtic Park to fill the hole left by the Bundesliga-bound wing-back? There isn't much time left and could be even fewer options for head of football operations Nick Hammond and Neil Lennon.

Neil Lennon returns to Celtic day job as isolating stars pictured getting back to work at Lennoxtown

Neil Lennon returns to Celtic day job as isolating stars pictured getting back to work at Lennoxtown A host of big names returned to training as they look to keep the Hoops feint title hopes alive against Livingston.Lennon and assistant John Kennedy were back to take the reins off of Gavin Strachan as 12 of the 13 isolating stars were put through their paces by the Parkhead boss.

It could also prove hard to convince players to make the move to the club with the Scottish Premiership title race seemingly over already.

However, Lennon revealed Frimpong's exit has been at least six weeks in the making, what could the club have come up with in that time?

Record Sport takes a look at rumours and the serious contenders for a switch:

Danny Simpson

Simpson lifted the Premier League trophy with Leicester back in 2016 but now finds himself out of the game.

The 34-year-old has been a free agent since leaving Huddersfield and is training under Brendan Rodgers at the Foxes to keep fit.

A quick fix with experience, you could envisage Celtic arranging a very short-term deal to simply bolster their options.

The former Celtic loanee was used sparingly by Lennon last season before quietly returning to parent club Stoke City, having failed to pull up any trees during his time in Glasgow.

But with the Potters keen to slash their wage budget, a second spell at Parkhead for the Swiss defender be a simple and affordable solution.

However, a return to an underwhelming loan signing would perhaps not go down so well with an already disgruntled fanbase.

A previous target for Celtic while at Huddersfield, the 28-year-old is entering the final 18-months of his current Stoke deal.

Once again, with Michael O'Neill looking to free up space in the wage bill as he deals with a bloated Stoke squad.

Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer of Frimpong

Bayer Leverkusen before the transfer of Frimpong Bayer Leverkusen still has some plans on the transfer market. After Timothy Fosu-Mensah, the Werkself are working on the next transfers - with Jeremie Frimpong the negotiations seem to be well advanced. © Provided by 90min Jeremie Frimpong could move to Leverkusen | Mark Runnacles / Getty Images TV broadcaster Sky reports that Bayer 04 has made an offer of eleven million euros for Frimpong at Celtic Glasgow.

However, it may mean Dermot Desmond splashing some cash to lure the former Premier League player to Glasgow.

He may have spent a five-game loan spell at Rangers as a youngster, but a move for the 35-year-old could be a simple solution.

The veteran will be looking to round off his career with game time, which Sean Dyche has not been able to offer him much at Burnley this season.

He won't have the same pace or attacking intent as Frimpong, but something for Hammond and Lennon to ponder if they're looking for an experienced campaigner to cover.

Mikael Lustig

Lustig was undoubtedly a fan favourite with the Celtic Park faithful, collecting a mass of silverware and proving an ever-reliable option before he left for Gent in 2020.

Now the Swede is back playing in his homeland with AIK, however, with the Allsvenskan yet to kick-off for 2021 could a short-term loan return be agreed? Additionally, he has just six months left on his contract with his boyhood club.

It's a long-shot, perhaps, but it's well known Lustig was gutted to depart Glasgow and that Lennon was keen to keep him.

Celtic pulled a similar move in bringing back Emilio Izaguirre back in 2018.

Predicted Celtic XI: Kilmarnock (A) .
Celtic once again put in a disappointing display on the weekend, losing to St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership. The Hoops fell to a 2-1 defeat at Parkhead, with the visitors picking up their first win at Celtic Park for 31 years. Odsonne Edouard brought Celtic level in the first half, however, poor defending from Shane Duffy allowed Ilkay Durmus to net what proved to be the winner shortly before the interval. The Hoops didn’t really threaten in the second half, with Neil Lennon remaining in charge of the side ahead of this evening’s trip to Kilmarnock.
