Bundesliga player of the month January: André Silva named POTM!
André Silva has been voted Bundesliga Player of the Month for November! The Eintracht star prevailed against well-known competition.
Serge Gnabry has made a remarkable development since moving from Arsenal to the Bundesliga. With the Londoners, the winger never got beyond the role of the talent, with FC Bayern the now 25-year-old is one of the top players in Europe. But why didn't it work out for Gnabry at Arsenal?
"It was really frustrating," recalls the former head scout of Arsenal FC, Steve Morrow, in an interview with SPOX and Goal . At the age of 15, Gnabry moved from VfB Stuttgart to the Gunners youth team in 2011. "Serge showed the beginnings of his potential and his abilities with us and also played a few games in the first team. But he didn't develop as we wanted. Injuries played a role too," said Morrow.

Gnabry played a total of 18 competitive games for the professional Arsenal team before moving to Werder Bremen in 2016. Back in Germany his star really rose. After a strong year, FC Bayern took it, but loaned Gnabry another year to TSG Hoffenheim. Gnabry has now made 79 goals in 129 Bundesliga games to date.
Morrow looks at these numbers with sadness. "He was highly regarded by everyone in the club. Everyone wanted to keep him and I fought hard for it, especially in the end," he said.
"But he started straight away when he was in Germany. That was the sign for me that it was the right decision. Perhaps he would not have achieved what he had achieved in Germany in London," says Morrow happily for his former protégé.
