Sport 'Conte, when he had his talks' - Insider drops big Harry Kane claim at Spurs
Tottenham's HUGE summer rebuild: What Daniel Levy must do
It is no secret that Tottenham are in desperate need of rebuilding the club from the ground up after what has been a somewhat disastrous season at White Hart Lane.Daniel Levy's gamble of sacking Mauricio Pochettino and hiring Jose Mourinho in 2019 has not paid off and now the club are in dire straits with Harry Kane revealing his desire to leave in the summer.
Transfer insider Dean Jones has provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy and his priorities this summer.
Spurs have got multiple plates spinning this summer. Not only do they have to deal with the ongoing transfer sagaand his potential departure from the club, but they also have to focus on the incomings – and most importantly who is going to be the new manager.
Recent reports have suggested that formeris ‘in advanced talks’ with the club over a three-year contract following the issues that arose to appoint Antonio Conte last week.
Spurs cannot afford another reckless splurge if they cash in on Kane
At 27, Kane is in the prime of his career and time is running out to end it with the honours his talent deserves. And make no mistake his talent will carry a huge fee - possible a world record one.The England captain has joined the likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale in growing disillusioned with life in north London - telling the club he wants to leave this summer in a bid to add some trophies to his sparkling CV.
And speaking on the latest edition of, Jones claimed that right now, Tottenham’s priority is sorting out the man in the dugout before they deal with any potential bids for Kane’s services:
“Tottenham’s stance is pretty firm, he’s [Harry Kane] not going. Conte, when he had his talks, was told that Harry Kane will still be here next season. For Daniel Levy, the manager’s still the priority, he’s not even really thinking about Harry Kane right now, because he hasn’t got a manager – and that is very important that he gets it sorted out because it’s an absolute shambles.”
TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments about Daniel Levy at Tottenham Hotspur…
This is certainly the right attitude for Levy to take, because at the end of the day, the manager is the one who picks the team, and needs more preparation time when it comes to what he wants to do this summer, rather than Kane, who for the most part, doesn’t have as much to worry about.
Roy Keane says Harry Kane ISN'T a good captain for England
Kane will go into the tournament as Gareth Southgate's skipper as he bids to lead the Three Lions to glory off the back of a superb season that saw him walk away with the golden boot.Keane has been continuing his Road to Wembley series with fellow pundit Micah Richards for SkyBet, giving their take on the biggest issues ahead of Euro 2020, and the Irishman had some strong views on Kane, who will be one of England's key hopes of taking home the trophy.
And with Tottenham reportedly flat-outof selling Kane despite reported interest , if they can at least maintain that stance throughout the summer, that would give the new manager, Fonseca or otherwise, at least some peace of mind knowing that he will be working with Spurs’ biggest asset next season.
