Brands keen on hiring 46 y/o who Pep dubbed "the best", he'd be perfect for Everton - opinion

Brands keen on hiring 46 y/o who Pep dubbed As Everton search for a new manager, it's thought that Marcel Brands is keen on Graham Potter. It’s extensive but you can hardly blame the Toffees when you consider the rather disastrous hires of Marco Silva and Ronald Koeman.

Transfer insider Dean Jones has appeared to dismiss any suggestion that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag will become the next manager at Everton.

Everton’s summer was slightly disrupted last week when it was announced that Carlo Ancelotti would depart for Real Madrid, leaving owner Farhad Moshiri looking for his sixth permanent manager since he became involved in the club in 2016.

One of the names that has reportedly appeared as a potential option is Ten Hag, this despite the fact he has signed a new contract at Ajax as recently as April. But speaking on the latest edition of Touchline Talk, Jones felt that despite Ten Hag having the admiration of Toffees’ director of football, Marcel Brands, it would ultimately be Moshiri making the call:

Moshiri could destroy "fearless" £25m Everton gem by hiring "passionate" 49 y/o boss - opinion

Moshiri could destroy Moise Kean may face the exit door if Everton decide to hand the manager's role to Duncan Ferguson. He played 272 times for the Toffees and has managed the club on four occasions, taking interim charge of the club before Carlo Ancelotti was hired.

“The only other thing I know about Everton’s search is that Marcel Brands has been pretty keen on Eric ten Hag at Ajax. I don’t think that really fits in with Moshiri’s vision, to be honest, and I think that that’s one reason that probably won’t happen.”

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments about Erik Ten Hag and Everton…

Hopefully this isn’t the case, because Everton certainly could do a lot worse than turning to the Dutchman.

If you take a look at the work that he did at Ajax, taking them to the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 despite a huge financial discrepancy against other European sides, if he can get some more funds at Goodison Park, which their previous net spend indicates he would, and work the same magic he has in Amsterdam, then who knows where he might be able to bring to this Everton side?

Everton eye 67 y/o "emperor" after private meeting with Brands, he's a proven winner - opinion

Everton eye 67 y/o Everton have held talks with Turkish manager Fatih Terim over their managerial vacancy. The Italian is a proven winner who has lifted major trophies in Germany, England and Spain. Ancelotti is also a manager who’s had the privilege of coaching some of the finest footballers to grace the modern game.

Everton have come so close to European football at times in the past, and all they need is that little boost to take them over the top, and having pushed Ajax beyond expectations, who’s to say he can’t do the same job at Goodison Park?
