Blackburn Rovers have not made any contact with Blackpool over the possibility of making a move for forward Jerry Yates this summer, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

Yates is a player who is heavily in-demand this summer following his impressive form in League One for Blackpool last term. The forward managed to fire in 21 goals and provided eight assists in 47 appearances to help fire the Tangerines back into the Championship.

It has been reported that Blackburn are interested in making a move for Yates this summer should they be forced to cash in on last season’s top scorer Adam Armstrong.

Reported Harry Wilson suitors Cardiff City , Nottingham Forest and Derby County could soon find themselves with one fewer competitor in the pursuit of the Liverpool winger’s signature. Sky Sports claimed earlier on Thursday that Swansea City had seen a loan bid rejected by Liverpool, with the broadcaster adding that the Reds had wanted ‘a greater financial commitment’ from the Swans. And, according to Wales Online, Swansea are now lining up Bristol City ’s Kasey Palmer as an alternative – and, crucially, not an accompaniment – to Wilson.

Middlesbrough are unlikely to make a move for Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor this summer with Boro not being able to afford the transfer fee. Football League World revealed that Taylor is someone that has been on their radar amid the possibility of Forest making him available during the transfer window. It is believed that the likes of Stoke City , Barnsley and Blackburn Rovers are also other teams that are on alert over the forward’s situation at Nottingham Forest this summer.

While there have been further reports that Rovers’ hopes of securing a move for the forward would come down to how much money they receive for Armstrong this summer.

There has also been reported interest in Yates from Nottingham Forest and Bristol City have also been linked with a potential move for the striker this summer. While Nottinghamshire Live have reported that the newly promoted club want around £5 million for him.

The latest update from the Lancashire Telegraph reveals that Blackburn have yet to make contact with Blackpool about a potential deal for Yates this summer.

The verdict

This latest update suggests that Blackburn have not been in a position at this stage to follow up their interest in Yates and try and tempt Blackpool into selling. That is no real surprise given they have not yet sold Armstrong and any chance they have signing the forward probably depends on how much cash they can bring in for their top scorer from last term.

Lee Johnson's Bristol City kept their impressive momentum going thanks to Famara Diedhiou's precise finish which notched up a fifth consecutive win and extended their unbeaten run to 11 games. Yates would be an excellent signing for Blackburn if they could manage to pull it off this summer, but you can just not see them being able to meet the £5 million valuation that has been placed on him. That is perhaps why they have yet to make contact over a potential deal because they recognize it is unlikely they would be able to make it happen.

This will give some hope to both Nottingham Forest and Bristol City in their attempts to sign Yates this summer. However, they are likely to be in the same position as Rovers and it could take Blackpool to lower their valuation of him to make a move possible.
