Emma Raducanu may be the biggest superstar in tennis at this very moment, but she doesn't automatically qualify for the next two big events on the WTA calendar. The 18-year-old British sensation will be basking in the aftermath of her astonishing achievement in winning the US Open this week.

History was re-written when Raducanu defeated Leylah Fernandez with the British tennis phenom becoming the first ever player - male or female - to win a Grand Slam as a qualifier.

Most impressive of all though was the fact Raducanu has barely even broken ground on the WTA Tour.

Wimbledon was seemingly just a snippet of her abilities as just weeks later she was receiving the second-biggest prize money in tennis this year - just behind the total Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka's earnings.

Now ranked 23rd in the world, Raducanu will have her pick of events for the foreseeable future.

But she won't automatically qualify for most of the events coming up on the calendar.

The prestigious Indian Wells tournament taking place next month had already announced their entry list for the tournament prior to the US Open and Raducanu wasn't ranked high enough to make the main draw.

It means she will have to be given a wildcard to enter the tournament in a few weeks.

She may well decide to compete before that though with Raducanu currently scheduled to be in qualifying for the WTA 500 event in Chicago later this month.

Raducanu will almost certainly not have to go through qualifiers again though and a wildcard for the Chicago event could also be on the cards.

"I haven't thought of any of that, to be honest. After the match, I just showered, same routines as always," Raducanu said.

"I'm not even thinking about, like, when I'm going home. I have no idea when I'm going home. I have no idea what I'm doing tomorrow. I'm just really trying to embrace the moment, really take it all in."

The teenager may also have her eyes set on competing in the season-ending WTA Elite Trophy in November.

But that month will also see Raducanu play in her first match on home soil when she takes to the court in the Champions Tennis at Royal Albert Hall.

She was added to the star-studded list of competitors last month and will play alongside the likes of Thomas Enqvist, Goran Ivanisevic and Greg Rusedski.
