Virals: West Ham 'set sights' on Rangers defender Connor Goldson

Virals: West Ham 'set sights' on Rangers defender Connor Goldson West Ham have reportedly ‘set sights’ on Rangers central defender Connor Goldson. The Hammers are believed to be monitoring the situation surrounding the 28-year-old as a contract heads towards its expiry. Irons’ boss David Moyes could sanction a move in January as the Glasgow giants struggle to tie the Englishman down to an extended deal. That’s according to a fresh report from Football Insider, as cited previously on Twitter, claiming the club has a long-standing interest in the ace. Signing Kurt Zouma this summer bolstered the central defensive ranks, however, long-term replacements may still need to be sought for Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson.

Lucas Paqueta and Bruno Guimaraes may not be allowed to travel having returned from Brazil last week.

John Lundstram missed Rangers ' final Europa League qualifier through suspension but is back available here. With Ianis Hagi out with COVID-19, Steven Gerrard finds himself short of options on the right wing against Lyon . Lyon are waiting to find out whether key Brazilian duo Bruno Guimaraes Damien Da Silva missed Lyon 's 3-1 win over Strasbourg over the weekend through suspension but is available to face Rangers on Thursday. New signing Jerome Boateng made his debut off the bench at the weekend and could start here. Leo Dubois and Jeff Reine-Adelaide are expected to miss out.

Connor Goldson has been given the all-clear to return for Rangers' clash with Lyon - according to a report.

The centre-back's remarkable run of 81 consecutive starts under Steven Gerrard came to an end at the weekend as he was forced into self-isolation and missed the win over St Johnstone.

Rangers were dealt a further defensive blow ahead of their Europa League opener when Filip Helander was carried off injured during the 2-1 Premiership win in Perth.

But The Scottish Sun now report Goldson is free to play on Thursday night when the Ligue 1 heavyweights arrive at Ibrox.

They too have had issues with isolation requirements but the Scottish Government granted Lucas Paqueta, Bruno Guimaraes and Tino Kadewere permission to skip quarantine after visiting red list countries on international duty last week.

Reports in France, however, indicate Lyon will be without the injured Moussa Dembele and summer signing from Liverpool, Xherdan Shaqiri.

It's claimed former Celtic striker Dembele - who has scored against Rangers seven times - has a muscle issue and remains in France, while Shaqiri hasn't travelled as he has not been fully vaccinated.

What the Rangers pundits said as Ally McCoist gets 'brutally honest' and David Weir admits transfer worry .
Pundits were mostly disappointed with what they saw from Steven Gerrard's team in their Europa League defeat to Lyon. Optimism was high ahead of the high-profile clash but the Ligue 1 side looked a cut above Steven Gerrard 's team and took the lead when Karl Toko Ekambi curled in a beauty.
