Sheffield United goalkeeper Wes Foderingham hailed the Blades’ three points and clean sheet away at Championship rivals Reading on Tuesday night, also expressing his relief at John Fleck’s much-improved condition.

The South Yorkshire outfit capitalised on Baba Rahman’s lack of concentration when David McGoldrick’s inch-perfect cross was converted at the back post by Jayden Bogle in the 57th minute, sending the away fans into raptures and setting the second-tier side on course for a much-needed victory after going winless in their last four matches prior to this clash.

It was a much-improved performance from the Blades and they were fully deserving of the three points after producing a display with much more energy and positivity in possession against the Robins.

However, this result was overshadowed by Fleck’s collapse shortly after his side’s opener, going down off the ball and causing real concern amongst the Select Car Leasing Stadium crowd.

Thankfully, he was conscious when he left the ground to go to the hospital, leaving the Blades’ players with the difficult task of holding on to this lead after such a major scare.

One player who stepped up to the plate throughout the game and against Coventry City last weekend was shot-stopper Foderingham, who was given the chance to impress in Robin Olsen’s absence.

This is an opportunity he has taken with both hands, looking like an assured figure in the Blades’ backline, distributing the ball well in midweek and staying alert despite not having much to do.
