According to Burns, it’s full steam ahead as they negotiate the terms of a long-term deal for Spurs loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Leigh Griffiths has been cut loose by Celtic and he is now at a career crossroads.

The 31-year-old will remain at Dundee on loan until the end of the transfer window but his Parkhead contract will then be ripped up.

While the Scotland cap is to be included in the Dark Blues’ squad for Tuesday night’s Premiership clash against Livingston, his future under James McPake also looks bleak.

Dundee had initially decided to cut Griffiths ’ loan spell short to send him back to Celtic Park after a lacklustre spell with the strugglers.

While he had time to impress on Tayside, he looks set to become a free agent on January 31.

Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald is also head coach of National Premier Leagues club Gold Coast Knights and could take a punt on the attacker from a division he knows well.

Clancy has looked to the Scottish league in recent seasons with former Rangers winger Billy King and ex-Hamilton striker Tunde Owalabi in the dressing room.

Having lifted the title while managing Chennaiyin FC, his first big move as Jamshedpur boss was to pull off a real signing coup with the addition of Greg Stewart - a free agent after leaving Rangers.

With Griffiths set to be without a club, the former Burnley, St Johnstone and Ross County could be picking up the phone to the Scotland cap to make his case.

Kenny Jackett was the man charged with brining the now English Premier League side straight back up, and he brought the best out of a returning Griffiths.

He netted 13 goals under Jackett and his form earned him his move to Celtic.

With Jackett now in charge of Leyton Orient in English League Two, could he help kick-start Griffiths career again?

Livingston

Griffiths made his breakthrough in the SPFL with the Lions, but would the Premiership side roll the dice?

He's struggled for game time and goals with their relegation rivals, but the club have been willing to give second chance to strikers.

Last season's Lowland League winners haven't been shy in splashing the cash as they look to climb the SPFL table, and Griffiths would be a landmark recruit.

What if Griffiths just wants to get out of the spotlight and get back to playing football for fun again?

If so, then a return to where it all started would be perfect. He has previously described the Saughton Enclosure as his "field of dreams", so if he wants to play purely for the love of the game he may look outside of the SPFL.

It would be a massive drop to the East of Scotland League from the top flight, but Griffiths career path hasn't been short of twists and turns.
