Here's your round-up of all the latest Swansea City headlines for Sunday, January 16.

Martin eager for more investment

Russell Martin hopes Swansea's hierarchy can be convinced to do further business before the close of the January window.

The Swans have already sealed the captures of Cyrus Christie and Andy Fisher this month, but Martin hopes that the potential he feels his side are showing will convince the club's owners to fund further additions.

"It's been difficult - we are spinning so many plates," the Swansea head coach told BBC Radio Wales.

"It's been a frustrating time. We have been so close to a couple of people and then it doesn't quite happen for various reasons.

"The strategy we have presented I think makes sense and I hope the owners see performances like this and realise with a bit of help that we can, maybe, really kick on.

"Hopefully that will be the case by the end of the window, we will have to see."

Paterson hammer blow - Baggies eye situation

Jamie Paterson's Swansea City future has been thrown into major doubt.

Paterson is said to be unhappy with the terms of his contract extension with the Swans and missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Huddersfield after saying he was not in the right frame of mind to play.

Paterson is reported to have told boss Russell Martin and Swans sporting director Mark Allen last Wednesday that he is not currently ready to play, hence not being involved at Huddersfield.

Martin O'Riley move hanging in the balance

Swansea's chase for MK Dons midfielder Matt O'Riley is hanging in the balance.

The Swans have been in discussions over a potential move for the midfielder for much of the January window, but the finances needed to complete.

The player himself is understood to be open to reunion with boss Russell Martin, but the level of interest from elsewhere means the Swans are no longer considered front-runners for his signature.

Movement on the deal is expected this week, but sources have indicated that, as things stand, Swansea run a real risk of missing out on landing the 21-year-old.

Blackpool and Barnsley keen on Fulton

Swansea City midfielder Jay Fulton is attracting interest from Championship duo Barnsley and Blackpool.

According to The Sun, the two sides are trying to land the midfielder on loan this month, although it's likely that the Swans would prefer permanent sale.

Fulton has been told he can leave the Swansea.com Stadium in a bid to reignite his career, having made just seven appearances under Russell Martin.

Nottingham Forest, currently under the guidance of former boss Steve Cooper, have also been credited as having an interest in the midfielder, who looks likely to move on.

Hamer relishing Fisher competition

Swansea goalkeeper Ben Hamer says he's ready for the competition posed by new arrival Andy Fisher for the number one jersey.

Hamer produced an impressive performance against former club Huddersfield at the weekend, but is likely to face fresh competition from the incoming Fisher, with Steven Benda recently joining Peterborough.

However, the 34-year-old insists he's ready for the challenge posed by the new recruit.

“Listen, you need that competition and you want that competition. It does not matter who it is, it’s about coming in every day, training well and performing well," Hamer said.

“Steven was always pushing me because of how well he trained. He was obviously disappointed not to be playing but he was always pushing me and wanting the shirt. You have to respond to that.

“I am fortunate to be playing at the moment, Andy has come in and he has been very impressive in training so I have to take that on board and be ready."
