With the 2022/23 campaign set to get underway later this month, Birmingham City will be determined to reach new heights in the Championship. are a side looking for lots of improvement on the pitch this year after a disappointing campaign saw them finish 20th in the league last season.
Since the end of the season, Lee Bowyer has been dismissed of his duties and replaced with John Eustace, who has brought some new faces into the club in the hope that they will help the Blues push on next season.
There are still plenty of work to be done at St Andrew’s with the squad still looking small and off the pitch events still ongoing.
However, captain Troy Deeney is looking forward to the challenge, as he told: “I like where we are in terms of the underdog mentality. That’s what I grew up on.
Artists who canceled their shows due to health problems
The Limp Bizkit 'Still Sucks' tour has been put on hold due to concerns about the health of lead singer, Fred Durst. The band had already completed the US leg of their tour and were preparing to take off for the UK and Europe when Durst received some unfortunate news. The frontman revealed that he had visited a doctor for a general check-up before embarking on the next stage of the tour and had been feeling totally healthy. "And to my surprise my doctor has decided to send me a letter telling me he would not like me to tour at this time and to stay close by to do some more tests," he explained in a video on social media. "And that being said, this was very unexpected news and I'm so sorry and I look forward to making it up to you as soon as possible." Indeed, great musicians may seem superhuman as they power through tours with dozens of concerts and days of traveling, but the stressful routine can take its toll. Shakira, Adele, and Lady Gaga are just some of the other stars forced to cancel their shows due to illness.
“I’m comfortable, fit, and happy. It’s just about getting started now and have a tear up.
“Everybody has already written us off. They’re saying that we deserve to go down, that we’re going to finish bottom. All those things. Well it’s a free hit then. Let’s go and prove everybody wrong. And when we do prove everybody wrong, how great will that be?”
Deeney was keen to give credit to the new manager, too, as Eustace looks to take on his first season as a first team manager. Speaking on the difference the change in staff has made, Deeney: “It’s night and day.
“I don’t want to be disrespectful but it’s clear and obvious to anyone who was here last year who seen the mood around the place. It’s very easy to say in pre-season with no games played. If we lose a couple it could change. But I think being inclusive with everybody, making sure they’re all involved.

“We’re all together, we go through the shape together.
“Today we got the work in. Everyone is involved and we all know our jobs. If I have to fill in at left-back for some reason, I know exactly what I’m doing. It’s great and he’s really created that siege mentality.
“There are a lot of things going on the outside, but we can forget about all that. Here is our happy place essentially.”
There is no doubt that Birmingham will be facing another tough season this year and if they want to survive in the, they will have to work hard to get the results.
However, it’s clear that the mentality has stepped up from where it was last year and there’s now further belief and willingness in the side to try and grind the results, which is half of the battle at times.
It will be an interesting season given it is Eustace’s first as a first team manager but if he can get the minds of the players right then it could be a risk that pays off massively for the Blues.
