Glasgow Rangers have now been gifted a big injury boost involving Alfredo Morelos ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

The Lowdown: Thigh injury

Morelos has not played at Ibrox since March because of a thigh injury, which ruled him out of the last 15 games of last season.

He missed two crucial matches in the Scottish Premiership against Celtic, where Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team only managed to pick up a single point as their rivals went on to win the title, and of course also the UEFA Europa League final loss to Frankfurt (Transfermarkt).

If he were available to play in those games, the season could have ended much more positively for the Gers.

The Latest: Morelos update

Speaking to the media in a press conference before his side beat Livingston at lunchtime, van Bronckhorst revealed that Morelos could be involved ‘very soon’, adding that he has named the Colombia international in his European squad:

“Hopefully Morelos will be involved really soon. He is named in our European squad.”

The Verdict: Big boost

Of course, it is a big boost for the Teddy Bears to have Morelos back and available soon after his bad injury carried over from last term.

Kemar Roofe is already on the treatment table, and new signing Antonio Colak will need time to fully adapt to Scottish football.

Nonetheless, Morelos was their top scorer last season with 19 goals in total over all competitions, despite missing a large chunk of it, and so he remains such a key player for the Light Blues.
