Ralph Hasenhuttl has not ruled out the possibility of some players leaving Southampton this summer - but probably not until after the opening Premier League game with Tottenham.

Saints have so far welcomed six new faces to the club this summer, with goalkeepers Gavin Bazunu and Mateusz Lis joined by defender Armel Bella-Kotchap, midfielders Romeo Lavia and Joe Aribo and forward Sekou Mara, while Hasenhuttl has hinted that Southampton will add another forward before the end of the summer transfer window,

But there have only been a handful of departures from the club, with goalkeepers Fraser Forster and Harry Lewis leaving on free transfers to join Tottenham and Bradford City respectively, while loanee Armando Broja returned to parent club Chelsea and experienced striker Shane Long was released, before making a return to his former club Reading.

Some players have left the club on loan too, with Will Smallbone joining Stoke City, Thierry Small heading to Port Vale, Kegs Chauke moving to Exeter City, Dan N'Lundulu going to Cheltenham Town and Kazeem Olaigbe heading to Scotland with Ross County.

However, there have been no sales as yet, with Southampton spending more than £50million on their summer signings to date, without bringing in any money in transfer fees. That could change though, with Hasenhuttl opening up on the possibility of exits before the end of the transfer window. Indeed, he has suggested that the club would be open to offloading a couple of players if they receive the right offers, albeit not likely in the next week as Saints prepare for the trip to face Tottenham.

“Before the season not necessarily because the transfer window is very long open,” the Saints boss said. “But we will see what we are doing. We will have to have a look because for some players maybe it’s tough for them to get enough game time. This is the problem we can look at after."

Theo Walcott is one of the players who has been linked with a move away, with the 33-year-old yet to feature for Southampton in pre-season owing to an unspecified injury, while the futures of Jan Bednarek and Nathan Redmond have also been the subject of speculation during the summer window.
