Leeds United news with Jamie Shackleton's first words after sealing Millwall loan move

Leeds United news with Jamie Shackleton's first words after sealing Millwall loan move A round up of the latest Leeds United headlines Jamie Shackleton says he's 'delighted' to join Millwall, after his season-long loan move to the Championship club was confirmed.

Leeds United’s potential signing of Chile forward Ben Brereton Diaz would give Jesse Marsch’s side “a lot of options” going forward.

That is according to journalist Pete O’Rourke, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Whites’ potential transfer business this summer.

Leeds have already made six new additions to the side at Elland Road this summer, with the club still having money to spare following the departures of Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively, for a reported combined total of over £100m.

Kalimuendo transfer hopes suffer blow Leeds United's pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain forward Arnaud Kalimuendo may have hit an obstacle, with head coach Christoph Galtier in 'no rush' to sell the 20-year-old, as per Media Foot. Kalimuendo has become increasingly linked with Leeds over the last couple of weeks, but now it's far from certain that the forward will even leave PSG.

Marsch’s side are reportedly interested in signing Diaz for a reported £20m this summer, as the club looks to add a senior alternative centre-forward option to Patrick Bamford.

And O’Rourke believes that the signing of the 23-year-old striker would give the club a variety of attacking options going forward, with the Blackburn forward able to play down the centre as well as out wide.

“Brereton Diaz is a versatile player.

“He can play out wide, or down the middle as a number nine, and I think it would definitely give a lot of options to Jesse Marsch’s side going forward if they were to sign him.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments

We think that Leeds fans would be delighted if they could secure the signing of the 14-time Chile international, who has been described as a “superstar” by Jaquob Crooke, after the versatile forward scored 22 goals and provided three assists in 37 Championship appearances for Blackburn last season, according to Transfermarkt.

And with the Whites only having Patrick Bamford as a senior centre-forward in the squad as it stands, we believe that Brereton Diaz would be an incredibly useful signing for versatility, as well as proving himself in the division below.
