James Maddison is looking ahead to the new Premier League season with Leicester City amid interest from Newcastle United this summer.

The midfielder was a key player for City last season, scoring a career high 18 goals in all competitions. Amid the talk over his future, Maddison started the final pre-season friendly of the campaign against Sevilla on Sunday evening. He played 85 minutes of the game, providing an assist for Dewsbury-Hall’s only goal of the game.

After the match, Brendan Rodgers delivered a defiant message over Maddison’s future this summer. The City boss said that the fee offered would cover “three-quarters of his left leg”.

Should Maddison find himself on the scoresheet against the Bees, it will be the fifth Premier League game in a row where he has found the net. It could leave City teammate Jamie Vardy looking over his shoulder as the midfielder closes in on his 11 in a row record.
