Her lawyer said she had to go to an audience at 10 a.m. in Moscow (07:00 GMT) but that the investigators had failed to determine where she was.

Marina Ovsiannikova, aged 44, was placed in August under house arrest for two months following her participation in a demonstration organized in July before the Kremlin, during which she had brandished a poster qualifying President Vladimir Putin as a murderer and his fascist soldiers.

She risks up to ten years in prison if she is found guilty of having disseminated information on the Russian army which differ from that of the government.

Her under house arrest was to last until October 9, but the state media Russia Today reported on Saturday that she had fled with her 11 -year -old daughter and that she was unaware of where she was.

The journalist made herself known worldwide by a glance in March, when she had brandished in the middle of the television news a sign calling for viewers not to believe state propaganda on the war in Ukraine.
