Norwich v Rotherham: Predicted XI

Norwich v Rotherham: Predicted XI Norwich City host Rotherham United tomorrow afternoon as they look to maintain their place in the top two. Alex Neil’s side currently sit second in the Championship – two points behind leaders Huddersfield. A win for Norwich could send them top of the table. The international break just gone was a scary one for Norwich. Timm Klose and Robbie Brady both picked up knocks for their country, with Brady now very unlikely to feature tomorrow. Klose, however, has been passed fit and is available to play tomorrow in the heart of the defence. Norwich host Rotherham tomorrow and then face Fulham on Tuesday night, before hosting Preston the following Saturday. Neil will be hoping his side can obtain maximum points as they look to keep their promotion train on track.

Norwich City have been dumped out of the EFL Cup after losing to Leeds United 3-2 in a penalty shootout.

The score was 1-1 after 90 minutes, and then 2-2 after extra-time. Leeds then held their nerve to win the shootout 3-2.

Norwich took the lead in the first-half of normal time. Robbie Brady picked out a superb cross to find the head of Alex Pritchard, who found the bottom corner – his first for the club.

However, Marcus Antonsson levelled the scores just before half-time, after he converted a cross on the line.

The Canaries found themselves ahead again in extra-time. Nelson Oliveira headed home a Alex Pritchard cross to hand them the lead – also his first goal for the club.

Fulham 2-2 Norwich: Player ratings

Fulham 2-2 Norwich: Player ratings Norwich City dropped down to second in the Championship last night with a 2-2 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage. Alex Neil’s side came into the game top of the league, but the draw saw them lose their status to Newcastle – who beat Barnsley 2-0 thanks to a Dwight Gayle double. Norwich started the game with purpose and took the lead on the 17th minute. Graham Dorrans converted from the spot after Scott Malone felled Jacob Murphy in the area. Dorrans was Jonny on the spot once again in the 41st minute. Cameron Jerome was pulled back in the box by Malone, with Dorrans stepping up to double the away side’s lead. Fulham rarely threatened but came out in the second half on a mission. The home side took the match to Norwich and found themselves with a goal back in the 65th minute after Stefan Johanssen was hit by Chris Martin’s shot and it deflected into the corner. Martin then pulled Fulham level after Russell Martin backed off him in the area – making it 2-2.

Leeds substitute Chris Wood tapped the ball in from close range after the ball slipped through John Ruddy’s fingers to force the game to head to pens.

The home side took advantage of misses from Alex Pritchard, Steven Naismith and Robbie Brady to win 3-2.

Here are our player ratings from the match…

Norwich 2-3 Leeds: Five things we learned .
Norwich City moved down to fifth in the Championship after losing 3-2 to Leeds in the Championship today. The Canaries were, largely, the better team in the first half and went into the break 1-0 up. Robbie Brady met an Alex Pritchard corner and looped the ball into the back of the net to hand City the lead. However, Leeds came straight out of the blocks in the second half and put Norwich under pressure from the off. Alex Neil decided to wait and see if his side could see out the pressure before making a change but goals from Pontus Jansson and Chris Wood went in before a substitution was made. Norwich were able to almost salvage a point. Kyle Lafferty fired home from six-yards out to make it 2-2 in the 88th minute but Leeds scored just three minutes later after Ronaldo Vieira’s shot squirmed through the hands of Michael McGovern.
