5 hidden Google Maps features you don’t use on your iPhone because you never knew they were there

5 hidden Google Maps features you don’t use on your iPhone because you never knew they were there Google Maps is one of those apps that pretty much everyone uses regularly, and yet it still hides a ton of awesome functionality that you've probably never come across. It makes sense, of course, since it’s an app that most people don’t spend a lot of time poking around in. You open it, you search for your destination, you navigate there, and then you close the app once you arrive. If you do start poking around in Google Maps though, you’ll find that it’s a terrific app for so much more than just navigation.

Spotify recently announced a new look for navigation on its iOS app , and now it ’ s changing things up with the home screen. Starting March 9th, all Spotify users will see a redesigned interface Spotify says the point of the redesign is to prioritize the stuff you love the most and make it easy to access .

Spotify has given its app a big makeover, with a focus on making the experience better for its paying subscribers. The Radio section got an overhaul , too. That redesign made it easier for free users to access over a dozen playlists with songs on demand, which also included the option to skip tracks.

Ed Sheeran holding a guitar: Music streaming service Spotify dominates the global music streaming market with a 36% market share, or more than 108 million subscriptions. The number of people around the world who pay for a music streaming service is only increasing, and streaming is the primary method of listening to music for many already. With the growth of its streaming service, Spotify has chosen to expand. The first ever Spotify Awards will be held in Mexico City on March 5, with awards exclusively based on data generated from Spotify users in Mexico. In anticipation of the event, 24/7 Tempo has identified the 25 artists with the most monthly listeners on Spotify. Although the Spotify Awards are (almost) completely based on listeners in Mexico, we have reviewed data from music fans worldwide. There is significant overlap in the artists that are popular in Latin America and in other locations around the globe. Latin music artists Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee, and J Balvin are all among the artists with the most monthly listeners. They’re also up for numerous awards this year. Latin pop is not the only popular music, however, and pop stars such as Ariana Grande and Billie Eilish are also up for awards. Many of the artists with the most listeners over the past month (28 days to be exact) have released new music as recently as this year, drawing in many listeners. They also frequently partake in collaborations with other prominent pop musicians, thereby sharing fanbases and increasing overall streams. These are the top musical collaborations that hit No. 1 on the singles chart.

Now the app will have familiar favourites at the top of the home screen for easy access, with six recommendations on albums, playlists or podcasts you're likely to listen to at that time of day.

Below those six, you'll also find the recommended/discovery content including the "made for you" and discovery playlists to help broaden your listening.

This update is the latest in a long line of things Spotify is doing to improve your favourite music app. Alongside redesigns, the company is also trying to improve your experience with voice activation and possibly planning to help you find new tunes based on your friend's listening tastes.

The updated home screen design is rolling out to all users, so as long as you have at least 30 days of listening history, you should see it soon.
