Apple traditionally invites young developers to WWDC 350 from all over the world. Instead of going to San José, the students went to the video meeting this year, where some of them were able to present their projects to Lisa Jackson, Vice President for Environment and Social Affairs at Apple.
This year's WWDC Scholarships winners come from 41 different countries. Each of the 350 young developers had to submit a project to Apple in advance and thus apply for the scholarship. The sessions around the WWDC are however free of charge for every developer.

Usually, thecan not only look forward to a ticket for the developer conference - which is quite expensive - and the accommodation costs to be covered, but usually also meet personally to one or the other big name from Apple. A few can even speak to Tim Cook briefly.
All of this is not possible this year, and Apple has, among other things, established a new format for the scholarship winners, in which a selection of scholarship holders can present their project to an Apple executive via Webex. In one of these meetings, t3n was allowed to play mice and, among other things, watched the Ukrainian-born Oleksandra Talalaieva, who was born in Germany, and how she presented her project to Lisa Jackson from Apple.

With her project Happy Earth, Oleksandra has developed a game that teaches users how to properly separate garbage and explains why it is so important. Like probably all other young developers, Oleksandra is disappointed that the WWDC will not take place in the USA this year, but the developer conference is also exciting from afar: "I am grateful that Apple is still organizing everything for the scholars from afar. Of course, we also got the mandatory jackets and pins and a free Apple developer subscription for one year. ”
Scholarship winners can also take part in all labs within the WWDC. Oleksandra is particularly interested in the lab around the new homescreen widgets.
The Miogarage project by an Italian developer is also impressive. Using an app, users can open their garage door, but also allow strangers to use the garage as a parking space for a limited time. The idea: relieve congested city centers and remedy the lack of parking spaces.Corona also a huge topic for WWDC scholars
