Chung-yong Lee faces injury concern ahead of World Cup

Chung-yong Lee faces injury concern ahead of World Cup Crystal Palace midfielder Chung-yong Lee has been dealt an injury concern ahead of this summer’s World Cup, as reported by Football London. Lee is in contention to be on the plane to Russia with his South Korean teammates but after sustaining an injury in a friendly with his country, there is a fear that he may be facing a race against time to be fit for the tournament. The Eagles midfielder has not featured regularly in recent times for Palace but remains an important player for South Korea as they gear up for the World Cup. Lee sustained a hip injury earlier on in the week during South Korea’s encounter with Honduras. This meant that he was forced to sit out of Friday afternoon’s friendly match with Bosnia & Herzegovina as the team continued their preparations for the World Cup. The experienced midfielder will be hopeful of making it back in time for the trip to Russia but caution will now need to be taken.

Iran's 23-man World Cup squad confirmed

Iran's 23-man World Cup squad confirmed The coaching staff at Iran have said their first group stage game against Morocco is thier ‘World Cup final’, bit extreme? That’s what it would mean to the nation if they were to beat Morocco and at finish third in Group B as they have only a very, very slim chance of progressing. Having been drawn agains European champions Portugal and 2010 World Cup winners Spain, Iran look to have their eyes set on third place. Everton midfielder leaves club with another soon to depart

Everton midfielder leaves club with another soon to depart Everton midfielder Conor Grant has today signed for League One side Plymouth Argyle, with Joel Robles also soon to depart Goodison Park. The 23-year old midfielder never made a senior appearance for Everton, coming closest to doing so when he was named on the bench for the club’s Europa League dead rubber against FC Krasnodar in 2014. Since 2015, Grant has spent time on loan with Motherwell, Doncaster Rovers (Twice), Ipswich Town and Crewe, while he also featured frequently for Everton’s Under-23’s last season. Having signed a one-year extension last summer, Grant leaves as a free agent having not been offered a new contract with the Toffees. Meanwhile, Joel Robles looks likely to sign for his hometown club Getafe CF, with his contract also set to expire this summer. The Spanish goalkeeper is believed to have been offered a new deal by Everton, but the 27-year old is fed up of playing second fiddle and is leaving in search of regular football. Having been brought in as second choice by Roberto Martínez, Joel displaced Tim Howard as first choice, before being relegated back to second choice when Ronald Koeman signed Maarten Stekelenburg. Having then displaced Stekelenburg, Joel was once again moved to the bench when current No.1 Jordan Pickford joined the club. Joel made a total of 65 appearances for the Toffees, 42 of which were in the Premier League.
