A team of experts are scrutinising the circumstances around the tragic blaze at Cameron House, says Scotland’s top lawman.

“Jackie Baillie will appreciate that it is essential that the criminal investigative process be allowed to take its course. A decision will be made just as soon as it is possible to do so.”

Speaking afterwards, the Labour politician said said she hopes another Christmas will not go by without any answers.

She commented: “While I appreciate that it is right and proper that the criminal justice process is allowed to run its course, to ensure that the investigation is thorough, it has now been almost two years with no answers.

“The families of those who lost their lives have been incredibly patient but it is disappointing that the Lord Advocate could give no inclination of when a decision may be reached.

“I hope that another Christmas does not go by without answers for the families, and for my constituents.”
