The rugby world has issued touching tributes following the death of 22-year-old Brooke Morris.

A number of clubs as well as the Welsh Rugby Union have shared their condolences after police confirmed her body was found in the River Taff.

Ms Morris was last seen at around 2.30am on Saturday, October 12 after being given a lift home from a night out in Merthyr Tydfil .

On Thursday South Wales Police confirmed that the body of a 22-year-old woman found on Wednesday has formally been identified as that of Ms Morris.

Since the confirmation a number of tributes have been shared on social media.

The Welsh Rugby Union said their "deepest sympathies" go to Ms Morris' family and friends.  Ms Morris' rugby club who she played for, Nelson RFC, re-shared the message on their Twitter page.

Dragons Rugby said they are "deeply saddened by the news".

A number of other rugby clubs and players shared messages of support too.

The coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination due to be carried out to determine the cause of Brooke’s death.

South Wales Police officers are continuing to provide support to Brooke’s family.

On Tuesday, South Wales Police Superintendent Ceri Hughes said on Tuesday that her family have been left "devastated" by her disappearance.

Police believe Ms Morris did not enter her home in Bontnewydd Terrace, Trelewis , on Saturday after she was dropped off by friends in the early hours of the morning.

Using CCTV and descriptions from witnesses, they believe Ms Morris, who plays for Nelson RFC, was last seen heading towards a bridge that leads to Treharris.

Officers thanked the local community for their help in the search.
