Robert Sharp lost his life when Thomas Curry crashed into the rear of a lorry and then a fence while driving erratically on the A74(M).Thomas Curry, 41, claimed he had fallen asleep at the wheel before crashing into the rear of an articulated lorry and skidding off the A74(M) into a fence.
A serious road crash has closed a major road in the south-west of Scotland on Friday night.
The A75 was closed in both directions close to Lochfoot, around three miles west of
Traffic Scotland said: "The A75 is currently closed in both directions in Lochfoot due to a road traffic incident.
"Motorists are advised to use available signed diversion route and should allow extra time for their journey.”
Local diversions were put in place.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said that three appliances had attended the scene after the call came in at 3.35pm.
The A75 is the main route between Stranraer and Dumfries.
Some sections are dual carriageway while some are just two lanes.

There is no word yet on any injuries.
