Police have launched an urgent appeal for a woman missing from her Glasgow home.

Elaine McAlonan was last seen at around 11am on Sunday, 27 October on Maryhill Road close to its junction with Kelvindale Road.

Police Scotland has said the 42-year-old has never gone missing before and there is growing concern for her welfare.

She is described as being 5ft 6in tall and of slim build and had been heading in the direction of Glasgow city centre.

Elaine has brown hair with blonde highlights tied back in a ponytail and speaks with a Glasgow accent.

When last seen she was wearing a blue hoodie under a light coloured jacket, light blue jeans and dark "Ugg" style boots.

Chief Inspector Martin Gallagher said: "We are growing increasingly concerned for Elaine's welfare as it is out of character for her to be out of contact with her family for this length of time.

"Anyone who has information about her whereabouts is urged to call 101 as soon as possible, quoting incident 2539 of 30 October."
