Drivers are being urged to take extra care on the roads with snow causing "hazardous" conditions.

Temperatures plummeted overnight, with lows of -3.1C recorded in Capel Curig, bringing ice, snow and sleet.

The heaviest snow is falling on higher ground and the worst affected roads are the A470, the A5 and the A483.

The worst affected counties are Gwynedd, Conwy and Wrexham.

Police and Traffic Wales have issued several warnings over roads in North Wales that have become treacherous due to the wintry conditions.

Gritters have also been sent out to some roads in a bid to make them safer.

Here is a full list of roads affected by snow:

  • The Horseshoe Pass is closed due to hazardous weather conditions.
  • The A548 between Welshpool and Llangadfan is blocked with heavy snow with reports the road is impassable.
  • Police have warned the A470 through the Bwlch Oerddrws pass is hazardous due to snow.
  • Snow is also reported on the A470 at Dolwyddelan.
  • Heavy traffic and hazardous conditions on the A470 at Carno in Powys between The Spar Shop and Wynnstay House Bed and Breakfast at Llanbrynmair.
  • B4391 between Penybontfawr and Penygarnedd in Powys.
  • Icy conditions on A483 from Newtown to Berriew.
  • Poor conditions on the A483 between Ruabon and the A5 Mile End Roundabout.
  • Snow on B4579 Maybury Avenue at Glyn Ceiriog near B4500 Tyn-Y-Cestyll Road.
  • Snow on A458 between the A470 Mallwyd roundabout and the B4395 at Llangadfan.
  • Difficult conditions due to snow on A5 at Capel Curig near the A4086/
